Goberament House
23rd. December, 1910.
With reference to Lord Crewe's
40-27012/10
Despatch (Parliamentary Grant) of the 19th. of last October
I have the honour to enquire whether the Lords Commission-
Areas 23267
-ers of His Majesty' Treasury have acceded to your pre-
"decessor'
request that a grant of £12,000 per annum
should be made to this Government for the next two years.
2.
I may add that I have now seen
Sir G. H. Murray's letter No. 9693/10 of the 28th. of leat
July and that my phrase, as rightly interpreted by Lord
Crewe, did not mean that I considered the grant of £9,000
liberal but merely expressed a pious hope that the Colony
might so regard it.
3.
The Legislative Council will meet
before long and as I anticipate questions on this subject,
R RIGHT HONDURABLE
LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.,
80.
